Interactive model: how the number of insurance agents affects market size, premiums as a share of GDP, customer service, product diversity and access to international markets.
The insurance agent is the main channel through which insurance reaches people and small businesses. The more professional agents there are per thousand inhabitants, the more contracts are concluded, the higher the share of insurance premiums in the economy and the more stable the market.
Move the slider for the number of agents and the model will recalculate Kazakhstan's market indicators and show where it stands relative to Germany, the USA and China.

How the model works
The model is illustrative and shows the direction and scale of the relationships, not an exact forecast. The key variable is agent density: how many agents there are per 1,000 residents (Kazakhstan's population is about 20.3 million).
The share of insurance premiums in GDP grows with agent density along an S-shaped curve saturating at about 13%. The curve is calibrated to Kazakhstan's current position and Germany's benchmark and continues beyond the US level; a particular country's position also depends on income levels and the role of health and pension insurance.
Benchmarks for premiums as a share of GDP (2024, approximate): Kyrgyzstan about 0.4%, Uzbekistan about 0.8%, Kazakhstan about 1.1%, Russia about 1.9%, China about 3.9%, Germany about 6%, the UK about 10%, the US about 12.7%.
Brokers and GDP follow the number of agents from today's level. Every 5,000 new agents bring the set number of brokers (10 by default). GDP grows by the set percentage (6% by default) for the first 5,000 agents, and each next step gives 85% of the previous one: growth does not double GDP and is capped (at 6% — no more than ~40%). With fewer agents than today, the model also shows fewer brokers and lower GDP.
Client flow is about 220 active clients per agent per year. The service, product diversity and premium stability indices are notional 0–100 scales. The model links entry to the international market with a threshold of 25,000 agents and more than 30 brokers.
